Title of the Talk: When AI Meets the Network Edge

Abstract of the Talk:
When AI meets the network edge, the fundamental challenge is not whether machines can detect threats accurately but whether human operators can understand and meaningfully act on those detections. Modern ML-based detection models deployed in enterprise security environments produce alerts at machine speed but their internal reasoning remains hidden from the analysts who must decide whether to escalate, investigate, or dismiss them. This opacity creates a dangerous operational gap where analyst fatigue, blind trust and uninformed dismissal become the default responses to AI-generated decisions.

XSOC is the architectural answer to this problem. Rather than simplifying detection models and sacrificing accuracy, it builds an explanation layer that translates every model decision into three forms of human-readable intelligence: the key features that drove the decision, a natural language narrative written in the analyst’s domain vocabulary and a concrete alternative scenario. Together, these layers provide analysts with an investigation roadmap rather than just a confidence score.

The broader lesson extends beyond cybersecurity. Wherever AI makes consequential decisions in network management, industrial monitoring, cloud operations or autonomous systems, explainability is not an optional enhancement but a fundamental engineering requirement.
